Within the last few months of 2016, Jimmy Fallon was declared to be the host of this year’s awards ceremony, Meryl Streep was announced to be the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, and the nominations were announced. The awards were held last night, January 8, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The ceremony began at 7 p.m. central time airing on NBC. The dress code for the Golden Globes is evening formal and the stars stepped out in their best duds for the ceremony. Read on to see who were some of the best dressed actors and actresses from the night. Common themes in gown choice for the night were the colors pink, yellow, and dresses with a metallic finish. Michelle WIlliams was nominated for her role in “Manchester by the Sea”. Her lace of the shoulder dress is Louis Vuitton that she paired which a matching clutch and a black tie up choker. Evan Rachel Woods had one of the most talked about looks of the night since the actress opted in for wearing a suit instead of the standard evening gown. The actress wore the tuxedo as a message to young women that dresses are not a requirement. The actress also wore the suit as a way to pay tribute to the late David Bowie as January 8th was his birthday. Wood’s, who was nominated for her role in “Westworld” had her suit custom made by Altuzarra. Actress Reese Witherspoon attending the awards ceremony in a pastel yellow strapless gown by Atelier Versace. Witherspoon paired the dress with a gold choker. Witherspoon did not have any nominations herself but presented Sarah Paulson her award for Best Supporting Actress. Actress Many Moore was nominated for her performance in her role in NBC’s “This is Us”. The star arrived to the awards show in a navy dress by Naeem Khan that had a dramatically plunging neckline and a cape. Actress Brie Lawson walked the red carpet in a stunning fitted red dress with a sweetheart neckline by Rodarte. Lawson paired the dress with minimal jewelry and fiery red lipstick to match her dress. The actress did not have any nominations for the night but as a winner from last year’s ceremony she was invited back to present an award. Former Golden Globes winner, Amy Adams was nominated agin this year for her role in the sci-fi film “Arrival”. The actress is wearing a strapless black Tom Ford gown that is covered in black sequins. Amy’s choice of designer is ironic since she starred in Tom Ford’s recent film “Nocturnal Animals”. “American Horror Story” and “The People vs. OJ Simpson” star, Sarah Paulson attended the Golden Globes in a gold Marc Jacobs gown and Neil Lane jewelry. The actress was nominated and later on won the nomination for her role in “The People vs. OJ Simpson”. Actress Natalie Portman shoes off her baby pump in this canary yellow Prada gown that she paired with vintage Tiffany jewelry. Portman received a nomination for her role in the film “Jackie” which is ironic because her look of the night is gave off total Jackie Kennedy vibes. Actress Ruth Negga was nominated for her role in the film “Loving”. Negga is wearing a quarter sleeve metallic dress slitted dress by Louis Vuitton. Paired with her close cut hair do, her look is giving off futuristic vibes. Naomi Campbell attended the Golden Globes last night as well and presented an award alongside Matt Bomer. The supermodel walked the red carpet in a lavender and black gown by Atelier Versace. The fitted dress consisted sequins and spirals and looked as if it came out of a museum that would also feature the work of famous artists like Van Gogh. The supermodel kept the rest of her look simple by wearing minimal jewelry and a natural makeup look. Country singer and actress Carrie Underwood attended the Golden Globes in this baby pink Iris Serban gown with cut outs and ruffles on the bodice. This dress received a huge response as it was compared to cake as well as genitalia, but for me this dress was a hit. Underwood did not have any nominations for the night but served as a presenter. Singer and actress Janelle Monae turned heads when she walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes in a custom Armani dress that she and her stylist co-created. The high-low dress consisted of a slightly off the shoulder bodice that was covered in black sequins. The white skirt was covered in polka dots and a layer of netting. Monae had nominations for two films; “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures”. Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross was a nominee last night for the role and ended up winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV series and was the first black woman to do so in 33 years. Following her win Ross gave a speech where she uplifted all of her fellow women of color. To attend the awards show Tracee killed it on the red carpet in a dress by Zuhair Murad. The midi length dress was shear, strapless, and had beautiful beading. The dress was paired with Christian Louboutin pumps and a diamond ring on each finger. Her diamonds came from Noudar, L’Dezen by Payal Shah, Hueb, Yeprem and Kavant & Sharart. Tracee added a pop of color to her look with a swipe of red lipstick. British actress Thandie Newton attended the Golden Globes in a fitted off the shoulder white dress by Bardot. The dress was embellished with diamonds around Newton’s neck and down her back and is decorated with fiery colored sequins that go from her knee to the hem. Newton starred in the sci-fi film “Westworld” that she received a nomination for. “American Horror Story” actress Angela Bassett stunned everyone is ruffled off the shoulder magenta gown by Christian Siriano. Despite not winning the award, Ms. Bassett was nominated for her role in the Spike Lee movie “Chiraq”. Actress Blake Lively looks absolutely stunning Atelier Versace gown. The black mermaid dress has a plunging cut-out in the chest with a gold sequined neckline. Lively pairs the dress with gold emerald bracelets on each wrist. While Blake Lively did not have any nominations she was there to show support to her husband Ryan Reynolds who was nominated for his performance in “Deadpool”. Actress, model, and stylist, Karrueche Tran hosted “E! Live from the Red Carpet” for the Golden Globes alongside Ross Matthews. Karrueche owned the night in a fuchsia Dolce and Gabbana dress that was strapless with a mermaid silhouette and a ruffle at the neckline. Karrueche made this look sleek and effortless by pinning her hair up in a neat top knot. Actress Lily Collins was nominated for her role in “Rules Don’t Apply”. Collins wowed everyone when she stepped onto the red carpet in her stunning blush colored gown by Zuhair Murad. The actress adds to the elegance of her evening look by pulling her hair into a neat top knot. Actress Jessica Biel walked the red carpet in a stunning Elie Saab gown. The dress had a high slit in the black and white patterned skirt, which also had 3-d floral appliques. The bodic of the dress is a black halter top with a dramatically plunging neckline. Biel did not have any nominations but she at her husband, Justin Timberlake’s side to support him for his nomination for Best Original Song for “Can’t Stop the Feeling” for the movie “Trolls”. “Modern Family” actress Sophia Vergara looked stunning at the Golden Globes in a golden Zuhair Murad dress that she paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Vergara didn’t have any nominations but gave a speech to introduce this year’s Miss Goldedn Globes, the Stallone sisters where she made an awkward joke making fun of her own accent. “How to Get Away with Murder” star Viola Davis looked amazing at the Golden Globes in an electric yellow gown that really complemented her skin tone. The one shoulder dress was by none other than Michael Kors. Davis had one nomination that night for her role alongside Denzel Washington in “Fences”.
