Drake Makes History at American Music Awards Plychette Montgomery October 10, 2016 Music 437 Tweet Share Share Email WhatsAppShares 0 With 13 American Music Award nominations in a single year, Drake makes history, topping the 1984 record held by the Michael Jackson when he received 11 nominations. Of all the rap beef that’s been surrounding the musician lately, here’s definitely an accolade that should silence his critics. There are not many that have bragging rights of dethroning “The King of Pop”! The talented artist has been nominated for Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Male Artist-Pop/Rock, Favorite Album-Pop/Rock, Favorite Song-Pop/Rock, Favorite Male Artist-Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Album-Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Song-Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Song-Soul/R&B, and a few more not mentioned. Drake has much to be proud of, which is likely the reason he has encountered so much rap beef, lately. Drake has been on the grind and the results are evident. His current album, Views, is his sixth number one album. The musician has made the Billboard charts his home and he does not plan on stopping his record-breaking achievements in the music industry. The artist’s versatility is what makes him special and is also the reason why he’s flooded with so many nominations. He raps, he sings, and he might even hit a dance move or two. There’s an undeniable talent and even though we’ve heard the circulating rumors of “ghost-writers”, that doesn’t seem to matter much because his success is getting bigger by the moment. I think it’s safe to say that this artist feeds off the rap gossip and beef. There’s no stopping the “All Summer 16” rapper. If we didn’t know what he meant by that before, we should definitely have a clearer picture now!
