As I’m typing up this interview, nodding my head to Don’t Forget The Times, Aleicia Nicole’s sultry, soulful voice speaks on reaching the breaking point of a relationship, but being reminiscent of the good times. Nicole is a 20-year-old rising singer hailing from Broward County, Florida. Growing up with a passion for music, Aleicia strives to create timeless music for those listening. In May 2016, Nicole released her debut EP, The Violet Room. The Violet Room tells the story of Aleicia feeling overwhelmed with different emotions and feeling trapped while trying to gain clarity on what she is feeling. The success continues as Nicole prepares to go on tour with fellow Florida musician, BZZY. After talks of a new EP this year, in addition to her upcoming tour, there’s no doubt Aleicia Nicole will blossom in 2017.

Q: How long has music been a part of your life?

A: Music has always been apart of my life

Q: Did you know that you always wanted to do music?

A: I always wanted to do music but I was definitely too shy to even try at one point

Q: Were there any moments in your childhood that have made an impact on your life as a musician?

A: As a child I used to just watch a lot of music videos

Q: What are some of your best accomplishments from 2016 and how do you plan to make 2017 better?

A: In 2016 I released an EP! I think I really was just trying to get a feel and develop my sound back then. In 2017, I want to show everyone who I am as an artist.

Q: What can you tell us about your upcoming tour with Bzzy? What should we expect?

A: My upcoming tour with BZZY is such a great opportunity for me. You can expect some great vibes and music at every show.

Q: Is this the first time you have ever collaborated on a tour or gone on tour, in general?

A: Yes, this is my first tour!

Q: What background can you give us on your latest release, Don’t Forget The Times?

A: My latest song #DFTT was made with a close friend of mine, and artist, GNRA.

Q:  What’s the message behind Don’t Forget The Times?

A: #DFTT is basically about a girl who is fed up! Things aren’t the same and she wants out. GNRA of course, is the voice of reminiscence on the good times of the relationship.

Q: Nine months ago, you released The Violet Room…what is the meaning behind the album title?

A: The “Violet Room” title was based off of me feeling stuck with all these different emotions at that point and time. Like I was boxed in, and my favorite colors is violet so it was definitely the mood I was feeling.

Q: What is your favorite track off of the The Violet Room and why?

A: Favorite track on #VR is the intro, my brother produced that one. I think it all just came together really well. It’s cool to make songs with family.

Q: How long did it take you to develop this project?

A: It took me all together about 2 consistent months to get the songs produced, recorded and completely finished.

Q: Is this a self-produced album or did you have some help?

A: The music that I make is for me. Writing and singing help me explain my thoughts and emotions and eventually overcome them. It’s cliche to say but the fact that I do it for myself and I have people telling me they can relate also is a very good feeling. Bringing the good r&b vibes for myself and anyone else who needs it.

Q: Is The Violet Room your first EP release?

A: #VR was my first EP and I plan on dropping another one very soon.

Q: How would you describe the music that you make?

A: Timeless

Q: What goals do you hope to achieve in 2017? What are some things you want to accomplish/do in 2017?

A:  In 2017 I really just want to put out a project that everyone can listen to track for track.

Q: Is there anything you would like your supporters to know?

A: Look out for my EP in the next few months!
