The new online series titled “Girlboss” tells the story of Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso, played by Britt Robertson, who has made it to Forbes’ list of rich self made women by building up her clothing brand. This new series that was created by the woman behind Pitch Perfect, Kay Cannon, is set to have 13 episodes. The totally feminist show is described as being the visual component of the Nasty Gal founder’s book. This story, as well as the women who worked on it intend to inspire young women everywhere by telling them that with hard work you too can be successful and reach your dreams. The trailer for this new series was just released and has everybody talking. The trailer reveals to the audience that the show will feature a cameo from fashion icon RuPaul, as well as Johnny Simmons from Scott Pilgrim, Jim Rash, and Le Tigre. The release of this new series is receiving some backlash as Nasty Gal has faced harsh criticism in the past for its treatment of its workers that included sweatshop like conditions, and employees receiving little to payment for their work. As many fans of the brand also know, Nasty Gal has had its ups and downs. Sophia Amoruso had to step down as CEO and then the President of Nasty Gal took over. In 2016 the brand had to file for bankruptcy last year and was purchased by the Boo Hoo group. This show however, will show the triumphs of Amoruso’s story. .
