  • If you haven’t worn it in 6 months, get rid of it.

Chances are, that if you haven’t worn it in 6 months, you won’t wear it ever again, so don’t let precious closet space be wasted by clothes you aren’t even wearing. This does not pertain to special occasion items, however.

If you ever wonder what to do with old t shirts, there are always options like cutting them up and making a quilt for example. This could be something fun to do. If not, giving old clothes to charity could be something worth considering.

  • If it doesn’t fit, get rid of it

Sometimes clothes stretch or shrink over time or our bodies just fluctuate. Clothes that fit are more fashionable than clothes that do not.

  • If it has holes or stains, get rid of it

Clothes that are falling apart will only ruin the overall appearance of your outfit.

  • If the style is outdated, get rid of it

Even though we may love a certain style, it may no longer be trendy. If the style is no longer sold in stores or seen in magazines, then there is a good chance that it’s time to toss it.

  • Do not make impulse purchases

Impulse buys will only add clutter to your closet that will collect dust. If you can see yourself wearing what you want to buy more than once and in several different ways, then buy it. If not, put it back on the rack.
