The hip-hop singer/rapper recently released his debut album GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions. For just over 50 minutes he switches back and forth between smooth R&B and edgy deep cut rap. Production includes Sonny Digital, Murda Beatz, DP Beats, Maaly Raw, Slade da Monsta and more. Guest verses come from big names including Wiz Khalifa, YFN Lucci, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Quavo, and Ty Dolla $ign. He starts off the album with 4 hits which, in a sense, follow a story: “Attention” featuring Wiz Khalifa, “There She Go” featuring YFN Lucci, “Playa No More” featuring A Boogie and Quavo, and his single “Selfish.”

The first song with Wiz is definitely an attention grabber. They play on the attention they get because they’re rich and famous. As they look the part, you should keep a close eye on your girl but she’ll probably end up in their section anyway. On “There She Go” Rock and Lucci finally see “the one” for them and they can’t seem to stop chasing after.

“She don’t know, she got me chasing/ When I see her my heart be racing.”

The mini story progresses on “Playa No More.” Rock, A Boogie and Quavo confess that they’re ready to settle down with the new girls they’ve found. They all wish to retire from the game because they are sick of the player lifestyle. “Selfish” concludes the story with Rock telling his new girl that she doesn’t need anybody else.

“New Day” brings to light a different side of PnB Rock. Hailing from Philly, Rock has definitely been tested in the hood. He honestly calls me out because I had no idea he was in the field like that. I just thought of him as a singer, but I won’t make that mistake again.

“I bet you thought I was just singin/ You ain’t know I’m on that gang shit/ You ain’t know that I’m so dangerous.”

GTTM is an easy listen and receives a solid 8/10 from Freelancer. Listen below to judge for yourself.
