The 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG/SAGA), one of the major award shows dedicated to honoring actors/actresses for their work in television and film, aired Sunday, January 29, on TNT and TBS at 7pm CST. Opening the SAG Awards this year was award-winning actor, Ashton Kutcher. However, his introduction was non-traditional this year. In light of President Trump’s recent travel ban executive order, Kutcher decided to briefly speak on behalf of the anti-Trump Americans and the refugees seeking shelter in America. “Hello to everyone watching at home and in airports that belong in my America. You are part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you and welcome you empathically.” Before the awards, Ashton Kutcher tweeted about his wife, Mila Kunis, who is from Ukraine My wife came to this country on a refugee visa in the middle of the Cold War! My blood is boiling right now! — ashton kutcher (@aplusk) January 29, 2017 Aside from Kutcher’s empowering opening, here were some of the most notable looks from the red carpet that night. Emma Stone’s Alexander McQueen dress that she wore to the awards ceremony is definitely unique. The floral black fabric of the dress hangs of the right side of the actresses body to reveal a sheer lace layer underneath. This look definitely gives off a gothic vibe. Stone paired this dark dress with Tiffany & Co. jewels. Amy Adams’ plunging black dress was by Brandon Maxwell. The actress paired the dress with jewelry that appeared to be apart of a cohesive set. Chrissy Teigen attended the awards show in this classy slitted tuxedo dress. She paired this dress with jewelry by Nikos Koulis. Danielle Brooks had a very unique look for the SAGA’s. Her white cape dress was by Christian Siriano, which she paired with a headpiece that she draped over her updo. This look was nothing short of ethereal. Jane the Virgin star, Gina Rodriquez attended the SAGAs wearing a PatBo dress. The spaghetti strap floral print dress shows of the actresses curves. Gina paired the dress with a LFrank Kunzite ring, Csarite by Dawes Design jewels, and Hueb earrings. Janelle Monae was wearing a black and white Chanel dress that had a 3-D effect to the SAGAs. Only Janelle’s sense of style allows her to be able to pull of a dress this unique. Kerry Washington arrived to the SAGAs wearing this stunning off the shoulder white dress by Cavalli Couture. The detailing of the dress which is also in white is arranged to almost resemble the spots and a leopard and the skirt of the dress is sheer. Washington paired the dress with Stuart Weitzman shoes and Neil Lane jewels. Actress Meryl Streep attended the awards wearing Valentino. The all white fit was decorated with flying birds and featured a sheer plunging v-neck. Meryl paired the dress with a matching clutch. Natalie Portman is serving chic maternity wear looks in this Dior Couture dress. This flowy white gown gives the actress and cozy yet fashionable look. Nicole Kidman’s green sequined parrot dress was by none other than Gucci. Although this dress is stunning, it was a choice that was unusual for the actresses’ typical style. Hidden Figures actress, Octavia Spencer, attended the SAGAs in this black peplum dress. Her dress was by Tadashi Shoji which she paired with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Tyler Ellis clutch, and Jacob & Co. jewels. Rashia Jones looks absolutely beautiful in her baby pink floral Vivienne Westwood Couture Collection dress. The actress paired the dress with Irene Neuwirth and Ileana Makri jewels, and Stuart Weitzman shoes. Sofia Verga was wearing Zuhair Murad the night of the awards ceremony. Her dress was midi length with a black tulle skirt, and a strapless white embellished bodice. Her accessories accented the dress perfectly. Taraji P. Henson attended the Screen Actor Guild Award in this ball gown by Reem Acra. The full skirt and color make the dress fun and playful but the sheer top is what gives it a sexy edge. Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross wore a Ulyanna Sergeenko dress to the SAGAs. This long black dress shoes off a plunging neckline and draped open sleeves. Ross’ shoes are Christian Louboutin, and her rings are by Lydia Courteille, Yvel, and L’Dezen by Payal Shah. She adds a pop of color to her outfit with her wine colored Narcisa Pheres earrings. Viola Davis made her appearance wearing Vivienne Westwood Couture. This cream colored dress had a sweetheart neckline and a short train. Paired with her diamond necklace Viola’s look was breathtakingly elegant. Yara Shahidi’s colorful dress was by none other than Naeem Khan. With such an eye catching dress you wouldn’t need to add much else to this outfit which is why the young actress and Black-ish star paired the crown with minimal jewelry and slicked back hair. Thandie Newton showed up the the awards show in this Schiaparelli Couture dress. The dress was one shouldered a featured a scene of a birds flying, a ferris wheel, and a herd of horses. Definitely a unique gown. OITNB actress Diane Guerrero wore a Christian Siriano gown to the SAGAs. The dress resembles a floor length black dress with a floor slate grey tulle skirt going halfway around it. Guerrero paired the dress with jewels by Coomi and Tacori.
