The fashion department is actually the only one in the museum that has to fund itself. This black-tie event is attended by the most prominent celebrities and people in the fashion industry. Each year the Met Gala also has a theme based on the featured fashion show given at the museum. Some guests will even follow the theme with their outfits. This year the theme was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between. Rei Kawakubo is the second living designer to have their own solo show at the Met, following Yves Saint Laurent. Each year the show also has various celebrities and fashion icons host the show. This year these people were Anna Wintour, Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, Katy Perry, and Pharell Williams. Honorary Chairwomen of the night were Ms. Kawakubo and Caroline Kennedy. Here are some of the best looks from the night. Cassie and P Diddy definitely won best couple look of the night! The pair both rocked the gala in all black. Cassie, a long black dress with a 3-D skirt and train and lace peeking out of the plunging neckline. P Diddy wore a black suit with a web design on the blazer and a matching floor length coat. However Diddy loses points in my book for the too long white under shirt. Black was a very popular color for the night of the Met Gala. Halle Berry came to slay in a long shear lace black and gold dress with 3-D appliqués that match the 3-D skirt. Kylie Jenner wore a shear nude dress studded with jewels to the annual gala. She topped off the look with her signature habit of wearing wigs with a platinum blonde bob. Some critics shame Kylie Jenner for wearing too similar of looks to events. Nevertheless this outfit is still bomb. Lily Collins is giving off goth cupcake vibes with her look. The actress pairing a black bob wig with fringe and dark lipstick is what really pulls this look together. Lily Aldridge definitely had what was in my opinion one of the most unique looks. The model wore a long white satin dress with cut outs in the front and a long train. She paired the dress with tight red thigh high boots and a purple veil covering her mouth. Lily looks like a walking piece of minimalistic art and completely nailed her Met outfit. Priyanka Chopra was definitely turning heads last night in her long tan coat dress. The actress paired the dress with a sleek bun and black high heeled booties. Michael B. Jordan was one of the best dressed men of the night. The actor had his hair neatly pulled back into two cornrows, which is a big trend amongst young men right now. Jordan wore a green plaid suit with a white undershirt and bowtie. I like the use of the white as it makes this outfit more spring appropriate. Giselle Bündchen kept it simple and chic for the Met. The supermodel wore a long silver dress with the back completely cut out. Joe Jonas was another best dressed man from last night. The singer and former Disney Star wore a striped burgundy suit paired with a black undershirt and tie. Thandie Newton is giving me Frida Kahlo vibes with this outfit. The actress wore a fitted one sleeve red dress with a slit on the left. Thandie paired the look with a large floral headpiece placed on top of her head. Her smokey eye makeup really sets off the look and makes it all the more daring and mysterious.
