Every year, people await the Grammy Awards, a night honoring the best in the music industry. The night is also a big fashion moment in the year, as artists step out in their best outfits. While many continuously slay their looks every year, many flop. Take a look at some of the craziest outfits seen on the red carpet at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

Andra Day

Singer Andra Day’s outfit was a prime example of overkill. Her matching baby blue nails and rounded shoes clashed with the pale orange of her dress, which had a silhouette that’s a bit dated. The flowers in her 60’s styled hairdo were a distraction to the eyes as well. Neutral colored nails and shoes, and a more simplistic hairstyle would have actually helped this look to receive praise.

Jacqueline Van Bierk

Singer Jacqueline Van Bierk wore this one shouldered dress to the Grammy’s. The dress was shear and was decorated with unmarked CDs. The singer matched her turquois hair with her fingerless gloves, which also matched the rainbow reflection in the CDs. Although this look is bold, it earns itself the title of being tacky.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry wore a Tom Ford gown to the Grammy’s last night. Even though the dress was made from luxurious metallic fabric and feathers, the awkward fit of the dress made it a flop.

Santigold

Santigold wore this pink satin midi length dress that had an A-line skirt with an applique on the bodice of a sea monster. The dress also had wide pleats, poofy sleeves, and a collar. The singer paired the dress with high black platform t-strap heels, a strange mix. This look wasn’t successful due to the ill fit of the dress. The fabric and style of the dress also give it a dated look.

Actress Taraji P. Henson usually kills it on the red carpet. Last night, however she earned her self a spot on somebody’s worst dressed list. Taraji wore a fitted short purple satin dress with graphic detailing and embellished shoulders. Taraji’s hair and makeup for the night was a little plain, and the dress has one too many things added on to it, making it hard for the eyes to focus on one thing.

Girl Crush

The effort of this unconventional look was an appreciated fashion risk taken by Girl Crush. However, the wild colors, materials and poor construction of the dress make this look cheap.

Joy Villa

Singer and songwriter Joy Villa surprised everyone on the red carpet with her dress. At first, the singer arrived in a white cape dress with a heart shaped clutch with gold embellishments and a white flower in her hair. Suddenly, Villa removes the white gown to reveal a red white and blue gown underneath. Down the front of the dress reads “Make America Great Again” in all bold letters, and “Trump” on the train of the dress. The dress is decorated with stars and stripes and serves as a bold statement in support of Donald Trump. Villa received much criticism for the dress, considering she is a black women and declares herself to be a feminist. Many questioned who Villa even was, making this seem to be more of a publicity stunt rather than a political protest. Over the years however, Joy Villa has been known for her daring and revealing looks. Even thought this look was a political statement, it is undeniably tacky especially since the singer’s panties are visible through the sheer paneling on the side of the dress.

Cee Lo Green

Singer Cee Lo Green seemed to take some inspiration from Iron Man for his Grammy night outfit. The singer was dressed in all gold, except black shoes. Green’s look even included a gold mask. Cee Lo Green seems more ready for a halloween party rather than the Grammy’s.
