The song “Starboy” looked to excite fans about the new album, which is also called, you guessed it, Starboy. Along with The Weeded’s new hairstyle, The song is definitely different than what his fans are used to. “Starboy” features the electronic music style’s of Daft Punk. This is the first time these two have worked together and unfortunately it shows. The Weeknd fails to capture his mysterious element that helped his previous album, Beauty Behind The Madness, blow up and create so much hype for his upcoming work. Another interesting choice was the hook. In his last album, The Weeknd blows people away with the incredible range of his voice. Especially in his songs “The Hills” and “Earned It.”(Fifty Shades of Gray) “Starboy” gives off a very fake, radio feel. Instead of The Weeknd showing off his vocals, the song goes in a more digital direction. With a hook that mostly consists of a robotic “ha-ha-ha-ha-ha” laugh. But, The Weeknd has not had his final laugh yet. His album, Starboy, is set to release on November 25th. This date is special because it is also the kickoff to the holiday season, as in Black Friday. Hopefully, this will give fans a chance to test out their recently purchased speakers and headphones on the new album. Overall, the single does not take away from the albums anticipation. Starboy will have a star studded lineup of features. Including Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Nav, Belly and Playboi Carti. The Weeknd will look to stun the public just like he did last year. For now, they will just have to wait.
