Top 5 Looks of 2016: Dej Loaf Shaakira White September 29, 2016 Fashion 945 Tweet Share Share Email WhatsAppShares 0Dej Loaf is known for her soft raspy voice that can be heard over her biggest songs. The Detroit native became an instant sensation when she released the song, “Try Me”. After the world got over how adorable she actually was, her clothing choices began to be recognized by men and women alike. Let’s take a look at a few of her killer outfits in 2016.. Dej Loaf is no stranger to sneakers. In all actuality, it is hard to catch her in anything other than a fresh pair of kicks. Here, she paired Adidas shoes with an Adidas shirt and tasseled leather skirt. The fit of the skirt flattered her figure so that a feminine edge was maintained. (Shameless plug: Check out my article on how to wear sneakers in a feminine way! Wearing Sneakers the Feminine Way) While backstage at a BET event, Loaf wore an outlandish pair of sneakers along with a striped skirt, lace pajama style cami, and patchwork denim jacket. She pulled off the colorful ensemble because the shoes contained every hue she wore. One of my all time favorite looks, Dej wore this metallic gold suit after an event this year. She used a brown and gold men’s tie to cinch in the waist and opted out of a shirt for the night. Gold loafers, no pun intended, were the cherry on top of the ensemble. For her birthday, Dej Loaf made sure that her favorite color, yellow, was incorporated into everything. This included every outfit that she wore that night. This beautiful, African inspired gown featured a plunging neckline, mermaid silouette, and detached train. Paired with yellow diamonds and a headpiece, I am sure that she was the belle of the ball. Last, but certainly not least, before taking the stage at this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Dej Loaf made a statement with her olive bomber. Stitched into the backside were the words, “Stop Killing Us”. This came directly after the many reports of police officers killing unarmed black males. This tomboy shows that it is completely possible to balance comfort, style, and femininity. A minimalist at heart, Dej Loaf continues to push the boundaries that other artists won’t. “You go Glen Coco!” Until next time, stay stylish!
