2016 has been a pretty kickass year for music so far. We’ve been blessed to receive incredible music from the likes of David Bowie, Death Grips, Kendrick Lamar, Sturgill Simpson, and Beyonce, to name a few. But the year’s only halfway done. 2016 has much more great jams in store for us. Here are some records I’m stoked about in the latter half of 2016:

Frank Ocean-Boys Don’t Cry (TBA)1392853723_frank_ocean_86

2014 came and went. So did 2015. It’s been almost two years since Frank Ocean promised to release his followup to the show-stopping channel ORANGE (2012). Intentional or not, Ocean has made Boys Don’t Cry one of the most highly anticipated records of the decade. Fortunately, recent hints from Ocean suggest that its release is imminent. I can’t wait.

Danny Brown-Atrocity Exhibition (TBA)danny-brown

We’ve got no definitive release date yet, but we do have the record’s titled (named after the Joy Division song of the same name), an upcoming fall tour, and great promo single (“When It Rain”). This thing is coming out soon. And apparently it’s inspired by the Talking Heads. I’m intrigued.

It’s finally done! And it’s rumored to drop in October. I’ve been waiting for Metallica’s followup to 2008’s Death Magnetic for eight years. So my excitement and expectations are through the fucking roof right now. I just hope James Hetfield and company don’t disappoint.

Pusha T-King Push (TBA) PRESS-PushaT_AlbumCover613crop-1200x1500

The president of GOOD Music’s last album, King Push-Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude (2015), was pretty damn good. And that record was a prelude to 2016’s upcoming King Push. Push seems to be hyping this thing up, so he must have something incredible up his sleeve. Or he’s an idiot.

LCD Soundsystem-Unnamed (TBA) lcd2016-2

There’s not much info available on the new LCD Soundsystem record, but James Murphy promised us new music by the end of 2016. This one makes me nervous; LCD’s discography is basically flawless. Hopefully they don’t screw it up.
